Here's the comic image tut I promised for level_0, the aim is to creare somewhat similar styled image than the example(s) below, or some of the few first ones in my topic. You can, and I urge you to create new unique styles for yourself with the Engrave filter. It is extremely versatile, fun filter to play with and during the tutorial creation I saved myself even more presets.
Like the one extra layer in the .xcf file
Due to upload restrictions (6MB max), it is heavily downscaled and meant only for viewing and guidance.

Have fun if you try, and please post your own result, using some other pic if you do the tut.
Tried to be as clear as I can, just ask if you don't get something.

The simple one, skin with single color ended looking like this:

And this is the alternative version:

Nidhogg, I think you may create a new thread something like "Uses of Nidhogg's Tutorial on Comic"

Nidhogg: Yay, tutorial! Thanks, I know my husband downloaded it while I was in migraine purgatory, so hopefully I can try this out soon.

Dinasset: I really love your second one - they're both good, but the colours and the pose in that second one gives it a mystical, fairy tale-ey look.

I didn't follow this tutorial created by Nidhogg to make this image.
However,
I thought I'd post it here anyway.
This was created on the fly using GIMP 2.8,
with various G'Mic filters and a few other default GIMP filter.
As a note,
the G'Mic filter "Engrave" was not employed on this image.

great your ouycomes :clap

I point out that for the filter "simple local contrast", every time I wanted to put the cursor "Edge sensitivity" to 25 as proposed on the tutorial, G'mic closes and I have a message recommending me to close Gimp.

Refresh (update) the filters using the icon at the bottom of G'mic.

Thanks a lot for your tutorial explaining your interesting process. :tyspin Your results are very good.
Wallace, you got a great cartoon result by yourself. I find it really beautiful and the colours superb!
Dinasset, your results are awesome! I think like AnMal, the second result has like a fairy look. I like it loads.

dinasset the second one is really nice! Thanks for trying out.
Wallace that's cool. You can easily say Engrave wasn't used, the line art it creates is unique I think.
Wish to see an outcome from you too Issabella.

Krikor: Nice job! I like the last one best, it has more atmosphere in it (probably because it's a bit darker).

Dinasset: Oooh, Ella Louise's picture loos lovely cartooonified!

level_0: Excellent result! So clean and crisp.
