Welcome to Gimp Chat. :)
Yes you can. Just select stroke with paint tool and the brush will stroke the path instead of using the default stroke with line option.

Hi Rod...
Thanks for the welcome :) That's good news 'bout the Paint Brush. Finding these 'Tut's' very, very useful. Great resource. Appreciate all the hardwork contributors put into these. :tyspin
Best wishes

Hi Again...
Silly Q coming here  Tried the 'Select to Path' with a straight line...Can't seem to get it to work. Does it have to be a circle, Box, oblong etc. for this feature to work? Got a great Rivet effect BTW using the circle and paint brush ;)

Thanks
RalphC

The selection must be closed. :)
To create a straight line try selecting any paint tool, clicking once on the image window and holding down the shift key. Click again where you want your line to end. You can do this with any paint tool. :bigthup

alpha to selection on our object you want to stroke.
pick what brush you are going to stroke with use the spacing to set your stroke
selection to path
select none
go to path dialogue
paint along path with brush.

Thank you both for your responses.
As usual very helpful. I'm on a bit of a steep learning curve with GIMP (no pun intended) so all help is appreciated. :bigthup

I Actually use GIMP for repainting aircraft in the colours of airlines (usually older airlines) for Flight Simulator 9 and Flight simulator X. It's excellent. There are certain things though that I need to learn to get the best effects to ensure accurate reproductions. Hence the Q's. The metal effects tutorials are particularly relevant and very useful. Not sure if it's appropriate to 'post' some of my 'work here though :)

Having read some of the Tuts here though, I'm keen to branch out and produce some 'Artwork.' The examples I've seen are awesome! :)

I'll keep practicing and reading.
Thanks Again
RalphC :bigthup
