This is a nice little tutorial I made by using Fencepost's scripts for those who are interested.
Lord Of The Rings Script 2.6
Lord Of The Rings Script 2.2

ringbearer font

Open up a new image. I used the default 640x400.
Type in your text using black foreground color.
filters > alpha to logo > Lord Of The Rings (I used dimpled setting)
I used the default color and settings on the first one. then clicked OK.
Voila! your new Lord Of the Rings txt.....
Image

The second one I changed the color to b10d03 and used the spherical setting.
You can experiment with the settings yourself, there are no set rules on that.

Hope you enjoyed this script by Fencepost...........

Thanks for the nice tutorial and for the links, Molly.

I used your red for the rose. It's a very pretty color.

For both of images, I colored the text ahead of time. When I started the LOTR script, I checked Use Existing text color and Keep Bump Map Layer. Then I duplicated the text layers and ran Filters > Map > Bump map on one layer of each. It brightens the text if you want it brighter. The only setting I changed in Bump Map was the Map type to Sinusoidal.

I don't have Windows anymore, but isn't the fonts folder in Windows/fonts?

Yes, but I keep forgetting how to get there. I will go hunting again after I finish reading all the new stuff here.

2-ton, got to start > run >type in Fonts. From there just drag your new fonts in there or copy/paste..... Close your Gimp then open and your fonts should be there..

Nice work, everyone! Glad you like the script and tutorial. Thanks for transferring it over Molly. As far as installing fonts goes, you don't need to restart GIMP to see them. If you have a Fonts tab in GIMP, at the very bottom of it is a Refresh button. You can click it after you install the fonts and they will show up right away.

I think the default script colors actually look best...hmmm, wonder how that would look shiny. Wonder what plastic wrap would do to that, lol. Oh drat, I just checked and I don't have the plastic wrap script. Off on a hunt, lol.

2-ton because extra fonts are no good for text, and are only used only in Images the best place for additional fonts is your user-folder/fonts

I tried to do this Tutorial a few months ago but couldn't get the font. It wasn't where the link took me.

I couldn't get to DaFont this morning either, must be under constructions. I posted the Ringbearer font below Sallyanne.

Thanks Molly
I don't usually have problems opening fonts and installing them. How do I open this file? EDIT: I have unzipped it but how do I install it?

Just didn't look the same as a normal font file. I will see what I can work out.

Hmmmm. I put the .tar file in the fonts folder in gimp and still nothing shows up in gimp. I have refreshed my fonts, restarted gimp and shut down my computer when that didn't work. Still no change. Am gonna try one more thing.

did you extract the font from the tar file first. It won't work if it is still not extracted.
Right click on the ta file and extract here, then put that font into your font folder.
