Anyone interested in smaller icons in Parthas GIMP-2.9 latest portable package Dark theme here is how you do it.
Open the Dark theme gtkrc file and find this line. #115 or so.
Change it from this
  GimpToolPalette::tool-icon-size = large-toolbar

to this.
  GimpToolPalette::tool-icon-size = small-toolbar

Restart GIMP.

Your icons will be smaller now. =)

I wasn't to fond of the icon size. The theme is great! I like more real estate when i draw though.

Great tip, it definitely improves things and I'm only using a 19" screen which I thought might make it more difficult, but it's quite easy once you get your eye in - thanks! ☺
