I can't appreciate the technique, because -as other members know- I do not like videos.
If it's not too complex, a simple written tutorial would be beneficial.

Same as Dinasset. "Unsharp mask" is sharpening via blur already?

The process is very simple really, but I hate typing and so I make a screencast video instead. Much faster and easier for me. It is an interesting way to sharpen using blur and blending modes.

My favorite sharpener is Gmic's "Constrained Sharpen" for most things.

I agree that screen recording is better than a written tutorial. I did one with Simple Screen Recorder and used a mic to explain what I'm doing in a (terrible) Aussie accent.
It's enough to make Gimp purists squirm. I recently upgraded my mic with a chunky looking item from the People's Republic. I will have to use it one day. That bird reminded me of one we have here.

This is a seed eating little bird called an 'eastern firetail' or 'beautiful firetail'. The bird in your image looks carnivorous. If people like these birds I recommend getting a birdbath. They like going for a swim.

A screen recording doesn't explain things, it shows them. And to see the whole thing it takes the time of the recording, which includes a lot of things that aren't really mundane to the demonstration. A good explanation can be straight, to the point, and read in much less time.

Your right, but not many people will tell you that digital art is based on numbers. Some of these numbers have profound meaning like the number 'zero'. Where in the universe is there 'zero' other than in our mind?

I watched a video tutorial last night from Stephen Sink.

Imagine having to write down how to do keyframing in Mandelbulber? Why would a guy who uploaded the first ever 8k 3D fractal animation hit the keyboard to explain how he got so far ahead of the human race?
