I went to /users/my name/Library/Application Support/Gimp/Plug-ins

then i shoved the gimic file in there, then i went to edit in gimp and clicked preferences and clicked the path that said /users/my name/Library/Application Support/Gimp/Plug-ins

then i clicked ok and quit gimp and opened it back up again, how come the Gimic file isn't showing up in my filters drop down menu. Can someone please help me?

you need to show GIMP where the GMIC is...not click on the existing one...so...

VERY IMPORTANT TO COPY AND PASTE TEXT. DO NOT TYPE IN THE TEXT

1. go to gmic in the plug ins folder like previously.

2. hilight gmic and go to get info, which will bring up another box..copy the path from there using 'control c'

3. open GIMP and go to edit/preferences/folders/plug ins and open plug ins folder

4. Click on the left tab which looks like a mini sheet of paper, hilight the adjacent type box then past the path using 'control v' into the box

5. click ok...

6. Close gimp totally and then re open open a graphic file. and GMIC should then be visible at the bottom of the filters list.
if it is greyed out then you need to open a file in order for it to open.

from what I can tell in this post, you did not add it to the preferences, you just clicked on what was already there...you need to add your own path and I have attempted to show you how to do that.. do not click on the existing text...add your own....see my new post re this.

@DCThacker... believe me having been thru this ordeal, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Just be sure to download the correct file from sourceforge.

MY problem was first I was downloading the most recent file at the top of the list thinking "gee this is bright and shiny, this has GOT to be the best one for me" .....Nooooooooo (that particular file is for some other build of the Mac OS X gimp or for some other purpose...so you can use it in terminal?...folks, correct me if I am wrong)

Anyway...do Choose a file starting with this.... "gmic_gimp" (then whatever OS you have)

Then follow what Akky has further described what to do and you should be golden.

Soooo...to conclude...

Make sure you have the plug-in "gmic_gimp"

Make sure it is for the correct version of OS ( I made this mistake and that cost me a few hours...some reason I couldn't distinguish between snow leopard and leopard)

Its no problem, it took me ages to figure it out early last year with the help of some talented people here who had no experience with mac computers...but eventually we made it and its been a godsend.

Hello,

Just wondering if I have loaded the following script correctly:

Script-Fu Exact Aligner 0.1 - http://gimper.net/resources/exact-aligner.193/

Steps I think I took:

1) Downloaded file
2) Used the `text editor´and saw that my computer seemed to match this reply:

`hmmm, my osx doesn't work exactly like this. When I paste the script into text edit, I dont' have the option to make plain text...just make rich text, so it must already be in plain text. Then in the file options, the save all is greyed out. So I just put the downloaded script onto my desktop then dragged and dropped it into the scripts file...and it seems that it worked. I just need to test it out now.´

3) Dragged and dropped the file into:
- McGimp-2.10.4-std (show package contents option)
- Gimp
- Resources
- Share
- Gimp
- 2.0
- scripts

4) Opened gimp and refreshed scripts

5) (in Gimp) Selected preferences
- Folders
- Scripts
6) Pasted `exact-aligner.scm´
7) Pressed OK
8) Refreshed scripts
9) Closed Gimp
10) opened Gimp

11) Tried the program (on menu `Tries-tools´ - `exact-aligner´)

12) Received the attached error messages:
