Okay, so I download this plugin called Create Layer Masks From and I'm not sure how to use it. I've looked everywhere I can think of for a tutorial on it and I've come up empty. The plugin can be found here: https://www.deviantart.com/slybug/art/C ... -324277895

Is it possible for a tutorial to be created on how to use this plugin?

Two personal comments:
1-downloaded it, installed, tried: got an error because Gimp (at least my version 2.10.23) does not accept to create a layer mask taking it from a mask which is attached to another image
2-the function it wants to perform is doable using standard Gimp functions on mask

It just does what it says on the deviantart page

This plugin allows you to create layer mask from another layer mask.
Or create layer mask from grayscale copy of layer.

Unzip put create-layer-mask-from.py in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins
Do not bother with the locale folder unless you use Russian language.
Find the plug right-click in layer dialogue, near the bottom.

Saves a copy and paste, very similar to the older Saul Goode script but with more options.

From a black / white layer: example: https://i.imgur.com/l0ISIP0.mp4

From a layer with an existing layer mask: example: https://i.imgur.com/yEbAIQ4.mp4

I see (everything inside tha same image).
IMHO it's practically useless, given the std Gimp functions (which BTW allow the user also to "copy" a layer mask from a layer attached to another image, which is what I was supposing the filter did)

...I'm not sure how to use it.

No, my original question was: Is it possible for a tutorial to be created on how to use this plugin?

I have it set up in gimp, but I don't know how to use it.

I am sure a tutorial could be created but if you can not figure it out from:

From a black / white layer: example: https://i.imgur.com/l0ISIP0.mp4

From a layer with an existing layer mask: example: https://i.imgur.com/yEbAIQ4.mp4

then there is no hope

Rich2005, I'm a visual learner. I learn by seeing how things are done and that's why I asked about a tutorial. There is always hope. :)
