Gold Dove Set......

This is a jewelry set that I started out with a simple picture of a white dove and the use of a circle brush. You can use any kind of bird, animal object, text etc. and arrive with the same results.



Start wih a new layer, fill it with

white (I used the default size)

then cropped it when finished.



layer (transparent) name it dove
Scale it to size you prefer for

your pendant remembering to leave room for your chain

above it as showing in the gold and burgandy image above.

(Mine is 138.138)
Layer to image.
RT click on dove layer > alpha to selection
Click( lock alpha channel)
Gradient > Golden > draw across left to right with gradient
filters > Decor > add bevel > uncheck work on copy, set
thickness at 8 OK. select NONE



new transparent layer name it chain.
circles brushe's

paintbrush > circle brush #3

>size .78 > spacing 60.0 FG

color black >
draw chain as shown


gradient > golden > lock alpha channel > left to right with

gradient > Decor > add bevel >

uncheck work on copy, set thickness at 3 OK select none
Your Dove chain and pendant
are now done.



Earrings
Make a duplicate of your dove layer and name Earrings.

Move layer to top of stack >alpha to selection > resize
I made mine 52 H x 55W

Duplicate earring layer and

use your move tool to place them the way you want.

Merge earrings 2 down to earrings 1


alpha to selection > Decor > add bevel > uncheck work on
copy > set thickness to 3 OK
select NONE

new transparent layer
Name it studs
FG = black

Use any circle brush and make a circle a little ways up from each dove
Follow same procedure for the Golden gradient as you used on the doves and chain. Don't forget to lock transparency. Then use bevel at about #3
New transparent layer
FG = black



take a very small brush and make a line down to join the circle with the dove.
follow gold directions same as above
VOILA all done.

Now let me see what you guys/gals can create using the same technique. They don't have to be doves. Just use whatever you desire or any background.

I am not liking my chain very much. I don't think it looks real enough. Instead of setting the brush, I just stamped each link separately and I think they should have been like one pixel closer. Also, how to you get the chain to have more of a texture look to it?

2-ton when you are putting your chains in you can set your spacing.
Click your brush then look down to the bottom of the window and you will see a spacing bar right "about the new brush", "duplicate", and "trash can".
Pull the slider over till you get it spaced the way you want then just brush your chain in.
When You get that finished, go to filters > add decor, bevel, and set it to about #3 for that chain... that will give it the textured and thicker look

I really must learn how to make satiny and folded fabric!

The satin behind mine is a satin swatch I found doing a Bing image search. Just put satin in the search, or if you're looking for a specific color like red, put in red satin.

I've never been able to make a decent gold gradient, yours are excellent. Methinks I need to just plant myself in my chair and keep working at it until I get it right. First maybe I need to just really look at yours to see what colors are used and how they're arranged. Clearly yours are the standard I need work toward.

This is the golden gradient I use....
If you have any prob, don't be afraid to ask.

I just use the one that comes with gimp...but I change around where I click the start and end, until I get the effect I want.

If you see the golden gradient and the one that came with Gimp side by side you will see a large difference. The golden is very much brighter....
