Well, got of my lazy behind and made a more formal tut (instead of handwaving the procedure; lol). I used one of Drac's renders as reference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/63292728@N ... otostream/

Yeah; never tried doing this until now and you are right Erisian; might be a temporary problem at justpasteit. Also, I noticed that I left out some critical steps so I updated the tut (same link). You can try just selecting a full box and try Resynthesizer to make the outer box itself seamless, but I usually get undesireable artifacts doing it this way (even worse with the new version of resysthesizer for whatever reason), so that is way I to the two step process with Resynthesizer. :)

You can thank Draconian for the original target PC. That texture he created is pretty cool and I see a lot of possibilities with it. :)

You da man Lyle! Those are all really great. I think I like the flying saucer/UFO one myself. I should have the Metal Wurx segment for creating the Hull Plating pattern finished in the next few days.

I like the UFO result too by the way; guess I should share the top view (minus space background). Won't take any of Tux's storage space for this one though. Click for the hirez (png with transparent background). :)

Definitely looks like something to play with. I like the source image as well!

Very cool stuff Lyle. I still haven't been able to get Resynthesizer to work. I had to purge gimp everything from my system due to problems. Before I did that I had Resynthesize from the gimp-registry-plugins package in the repos. That never worked. When I reinstalled Gimp I didn't reinstall that package. I got the newer version from the Gimp Plugin Registry. That didn't work either. For instance, if I make a selection around a person jumping with just the sky as background, it just mangles the person. I haven't asked or looked for help on here yet. I figure I'll get to it eventually.

I believe the new Resynthesizer has this behavior (faster, but has some issues under certain situations). Might want to get a copy of the old resynthesizer. Not sure the thread anymore; they both will work synergistically in GIMP and if you are using 64-bit GIMP, I believe samj compiled both versions so even the name shows up different in the plugin folders. :)
