I've been asked for this tutorial for ages now, and I never did it because I didn't know how to word it. It sounds difficult but it's easier than is appears. Any problems with it, let me know because I will fix any questionable parts.

Here is the image I made while making the tutorial. If you're running IE, I appologize for how slow it animates. If you save it and view it in another program, it runs normal.

Here's the tutorial.

You are right, it looks really hard...especially since I haven't managed to get mathmap into my computer yet!

Well dang! I got my two images all ready to go and I don't have PhotoComix in my MathMap. Running it in Fedora 12.

@2-ton - I am working on simplifying the process, or at least making the write up easier.

@Oregonian - The twist codes may be under a different menu option in Mathmap. I know I had a problem with duplicates at one time. :puzzled

Ah! Found it. Filters > Extra_Animation > Twist 1 - 4 are in there. Thanks, Greg.

I think that's where most people will have it, so I will change it in my tut.

Edit: The change has been made to the tutorial above.

Wondering if mathmap will work in 2.4 or if I have to wait until I upgrade (waiting for the highly touted new version due out end of year).

Mathmap works in 2.4 and 2.2 as well.

Greg, I thought I would like to try your tutorial again in Windows 7. The Chromium kept crashing in XP so I gave up on it.
Now, this time I got as far as #7, I am in Filters>Generic>Mathmap>Mathmap. I clicked on filters and pulled down every drop down and I don't have Extra Animation and twist 4.....Is there a place to download those two filters? Do you have these filters in your new Windows 7?

Edit: After edge Detect, I should have Extra_map, extra_animation, Extra_Map_Panini, Extra Render, Extra-Time, and Extra_Sorted. I have none of these. "O" has these in her Linux.

I just realized that on my new machine, I didn't have mathmap. I downloaded it and now have to get the extras from PC. I'll post the link to it when I find it.

EDIT: I found it!

Now this is weird. I downloaded the file and it doesn't have all of the codes. When I found my old download of the same filename, it has all of the codes?

I downloaded the files from the link and this is what I got. I already have these in my expressions folder. The extra's aren't included. :gaah :blind

Hopefully this will work. I don't know if attaching zip files will work. I would copy the files you want. If you copy all of them, you may get errors for duplicated files. I did, but I deleted my dupes and fixed the problem.

Inside of the expressions folder, I created another folder called "Extras", and put them in there. This way they show up in the Extras menu option in mathmap.

I need to find Extra_map, extra_animation, Extra_Map_Panini, Extra Render, Extra-Time, and Extra_Sorted. I am not familiar with these. I'll keep looking for them.

Maybe they are just available for Linux, "O" has them in her mathmap....
Anyway, I guess I don't need them for this tutorial? I just go straight to twist 4. Is that correct? Gee's, I'm a bug.... :kittydrink
