The title of this thread is:

- do these outcomes resemble paintings?

I would be glad to read from GC members.

post-scriptum: I'm not interested in knowing whether an outcome is nice or not, only whether it could resemble a painting (different styles applied)

#4, #8, #10, #11, #17, #18 resemble paintings.

The pictures with humans, etc, more resemble pastel, pencil, or chalk drawings. Being a painter, myself, I'm looking for the media to have an underlying canvas base with detectable strokes or flow, if that makes sense.

I'm not suggesting you use a canvas base, just that my brain is expecting to see it, because I use canvas. I've seen paintings done on cardboard, luan, cloth, and buildings of various materials, so I try not to be biased on what lies underneath the paint.

dinasset, I am _not_ a painter nor a by-hand artist of any sort. Most -- not all but certainly most -- of the art I've ever seen in all my life has been print reproductions in books and magazines and digital reproductions online. With that very narrow sort of exposure, my feeling is that the nature plays more closely emulate paintings than the portraits. This is not to criticize the portrait results in any way but simply to answer your main question. Digital portraits with painting effects have become so common in my experience that by-hand painted portraits may be receding in my memory. It feels like I immediately recognize that it's digital and began life as an image from a camera. Perhaps it's the high level of foreground and background detail that distracts from the portrait subject that I feel a painter would subdue in some way or simply leave out.

I wasn't particularly aware of my own reactions until I typed them here. Thank you for opportunity to learn.

I knew that portraits are the most difficult subject for emulating paintings, but your words explained me why: a "real" painter will avoid "disturbing" details around the person(s).
Better -if a portrait has to be the subject- select carefully source photos with blurred and/or insignificant background.

I will consider the possibility to add "optionally" the canvas, because I like that indication, but not immediately because I like to exhaust all the different "styles" I prepared without modifying the process, so to get also on those your evaluation as painter; at the end I will concentrate only on the best ones. Thanks if you will kindly evaluate also my next outcomes.
