No idea what 'alska varandra' is. Here in the Southern Hemisphere it's also the Summer solstice. The days are really long and it's still light at about 9.30pm.
I think it's the end of the 'creative phase' for another year and the creative energy flips over to the Northern Hemisphere. Now your days are getting longer and your growing season will eventually start.

For me the 'Santa stuff' is just part of the systematic brainwashing of the young. Maybe most people need to be protected from the truth with archaic myths that never make any sense? :cool

Älska varandra means Love each other.

I don't know if the young really believe in Santa Clause anyway - I think they play along with it for our sakes. I'm looking forward to Christmas because after a lousy year I need one day in which to put aside cares and relax. I'll start up again in the new year.

AnMal and I have been eating the first of the mince pies I made and they turned out heavenly. We chopped up dried fruit and soaked it in (Alcohol-free) Glögg for a few days to make the mincemeat. A combination of cultures going on there.
