This morning I experimented using images of a lake.
Decided to test bigger tiles and fewer colors.

with this image it seemed that the colours number was too small
I tried progressively up to the masimum of 32, but the improvement is minimal.
The image is not suitable for this filter (unless maybe a preprocessing step, not tried)

Just for my curiosity.
Tried to "auto equalize colors" before running the preset.

It looks better to me.
Sometimes there is a need of some preprocessing step to get an ecceptable result.
