Dinasset, I love watercolour. you got a very nice effect on it. (I didn't et so nice outcome as you with watercolour)

Two different approaches.
For the first I used my equal luminosity mask plug-in.

For the second I made a selection of the horses using Threshold on a new layer, so that I could invert the selection and clear the background. Then I used this layer as a contrast mask followed by Curves to make the final adjustment.

David, great improvement on both ways on the horses. Your masks work awesome and you know how to apply them
Also, A nice whole effect on the picture (porcelana)

Anyway here is mine from Issa's original - straightened up/brightened up the back street with
'wine bottle bowling', some window flowers and a couple of kookaburras visiting from Oz.
