OMG: Put the paisley in both! Keep the paisley thread going. Your glass creations are so realistic.

@ OMG
Where can I find the e-maps you're using to make the glass?

Wallace - I can zip them and put them in an attachment for you - is there a size limit on attachments here?

The limit is,
5.24288 Megabytes
or
5242880 Bytes.

You can also upload them as an image file,
with the same file size limitations.
Also, you can only attach 3 files in any given post as attachments.
It might be better to upload them as image files instead of attachments.

You can never have enough glassware ...

... to hang on a wall (?)

... a pumpkin for Halloween

... or a mandala that looks more like a globe

Just a fabulous learning exercise - thank you Gimp :gimp

The pumpkin and mandela look very real! The glass effect seems to look most realistic on larger selections.
I seem to have missed the info on how this is done???

Re: Glass ornaments

2-ton - I am not so sure about the glass effect being more realistic on larger selections; I think there are a number of factors involved, especially the type of BRL parameters used in conjunction with the glass colour and blends/patterns involved in producing the final image.

What I do know is that the more you play the more options there are and there is much more to learn!

Still, I am having so much fun ...

I don't think I am using the right method, but I managed to glass my chicken. I just took the chicken that I did BRL on, then used the different selections and ran the script-fu glass filter. It's glassy but not as glassy as the others on this thread, so I must not be using the right steps.

2-ton - I think that you are using Graechan's glass/plastic script, which I do also use parts of to augment my images. However, I also think the step you are 'missing' is the one that creates the real shine and that is BRL (of course!) using a 'glassy' e-map, some of which I attached to a post above in this thread.

Anyway, one last glassy image before I look to learn something new in GIMP...

Yes I was using the plastic/glass filter, and it was on an already BRL'd image. So I need to use a glassy map to do the BRL, I didn't realize that. I will grab some from you! Thanks for providing them.

Toying with a vector difference technique to create the facets. Still, requires a lot of other steps and blends so it's still a work in progress. :)

Lyle - interesting approach; just thought I would post one more as my way of saying thanks to you for getting me started on glass effects ... was playing with Ofnuts path decorator on an iterative basis ... could not resist glassing the outputs ...

... and that is definitely the last one.

lylejk: that rose is so beautiful, an almost poetic look about it!
oldmangrumpy:  did i hear you say you were going to move on to other things? never mind other things - glass ornaments and paisleys (separately or combined) are all you need to keep you pleasantly occupied for the next ten years or so! lovely new ornaments.

I put together a few e-map.
That I feel would make for some interesting glass effect when used with BRL.

The image below is a preview of the maps contained in the attached zip file.
