After having a recent success in tempting Patrice over to the dark side and creating his first magnificent custom font on GimpLearn I thought that I would shamelessly try again to woo other users into having a go...

In post #229, I love the glitter bar across the word "glitters". I used to know how to do that, and having senior moments, I cannot do it correctly. Will you kindly share how you did so when you have time?

Hi Pat - sadly I too had a senior moment and didn't save the original file - and since it was more that two sleeps ago I can only guess at what I did...

I used a number of layers starting with the cubist artistic filter on a temporary copy of the font and then applied noise to multiple copies of the letter layers with increasing amounts of blur before merging.

Sorry that it's so vague (note to self to save as xcf files in future).

SkinnyHouse, have you created any other fonts from famous or infamous samples? Done any work with hand printing?

Interesting questions TeachMe.

Not used any works of art as images for custom fonts for a while - public domain questions arise here. As to hand prints - well possibly!

If you are interested there are many custom fonts on the GimpLearn thread - produced mainly by a small number of enthusiasts/addicts.

Why not here? Mainly filesize issues. The custom font (70 plus characters) used above when zipped is still too large for the filesize limit on this site sadly.
