Since the time flies and Christmas is not that far away, I thought of ornaments for my Grandchildren. Max, the older one..

Anmal - thank you as always, I appreciate your support.
Pat625 - well done Pat, about time there were other member contributions and of course you have come up with the useful idea of gift ornaments - thank you.
I cannot believe how addictive is this thing called GIMP, still the World Health Organisation have not classified it yet (everything else I like has been!) so I'm safe for a while ...
... there is so much learning, in this case about patterns/textures and blending ... love retirement, love GIMP; sorry about the current state of the garden!

Thank you Dinasset and OMG! Yes, you are correct. I find Gimp very addictive. There is some classification for internet addiction, but I don't think specific sites have been given its own class. We should come up with a good one for Gimp! Name the addiction!!!!

You all with your great outcomes have encouraged me to try an ornament, and here it is
I must say that Dinasset's script helped to the final step. Thanks amico.

Thanks to you.
Yes, you got a very nice outcome, just a hint from your "amico": put more emphasis on the bird, it's the main subjest and deserves more "evidence"

Thank you so much, Pat, Lyle and Dinasset, I appreciate your comments.
Dinasset, What are you thinking of to give more relevance to the bird? any hint?
Fri Oct 30, 2015 3:01 am
Dinasset - thank you very much; see below I am still using your great scripts. Any more on the way?
Issabella - another typically beautiful Issabella image, well done and thanks for contributing to this thread
You have also shown me I have become somewhat one dimensional of late, so here are a couple of images, moving me in a different direction ...

Thank you OMG, and whichever direction you choose, your results are great.

something like this?
-selected the bird
-on a new transparent layer filled that selection with a pattern (dodge-mode)
-new layer from visible
-applied some mod on brightness/contrast
-flatten

Great! Much, much better. Thank you very much as I try to learn from such brilliant ideas. I like it a lot.

@Issabella: glad you like it
@OMG: you are tooooo productive, it's very difficult to follow your whole production! Very nice outcomes...
new scripts? yes, many, one of them I called "OMG_style" hehehe...

issabella: beautiful composition indeed! i didn't see the bird as the main object, but saw the whole branch with the bird as the main object. in any case, it's beautifully made
oldmangrumpy: that top image blows my mind! there's so much in it, it's hard to stop looking at it. the second one looks like exclusive jewellery, i can definitely see it pinned to a chanel suit somewhere.

Anmal - thank you, I'm glad you like them.
I'm also happy that Issabella gave me a new direction ... trouble is the destination seems so far away ...
... some more glass ornaments, this time a collection featuring sports/games I have played; I learnt a lot about using GMIC contours tools for these images to get the writng/patterns on the glass!! Just love GIMP!

How about the glass sports balls on wooden pedestals using Wallace's BRL wood patterns. I would do it but I can't deal with my computer running so slow, too frustrating.
