Peter, I love your owl :heart What a beatiful outcome! I have tried several times to recreate the dream smooth effect with your mini tutorial. But I can never get your great result.
The paper texture fits very well with the outcome :paint

Thanks for the compliments Ella.
If there's anything I can do to help just let me know.

Thanks for the offer, Peter. With your tutorial you've already helped. Now it's just practicing, practicing and keep on practicing, I think...
I've made a new attempt with dream smoothing and a water color effect. I'm not completely satisfied yet, but more or less.

I'm not an expert of this technique, but the result looks very good to me, Ella.
Let's see what Peter will say.

Ella: This is an AMAZING image. I can see a definite difference in style which I very much encourage you to pursue. I very much like the watercolor affect. I hope you continue to "practice, practice, practice." You're on the beginning of something really excellent with this image.
Good job. :paint :clap :coolthup

@Diego, thanks for the nice comment.

@Peter, your encouragement was what I needed  :thanku
I wasn't completely satisfied about the smoothness of the lions. Don't know how to describe your outcomes in English.
What I really like about them.
That's the limitation of my knowledge of the English language.

Tried the approach with a Kookaburra, but got diverted and included some other GMIC filters.

Ella: The whole point of the style that I do is to bring out the texture of the fur in the animals and make it look like an oil painting. With these two images you have successfully brought out the texture of the fur and it looks very good, very good.
From this point you can do watercolor affect or oil affect or whatever you choose, whatever pleases you. You're doing very well.
By the way, I've seen your "You Tube" gallery and I'm very impressed with what I'm seeing there.

Thanks Peter, the water color effect I made "by hand" from a tutorial Issabella wrote.
Also thank you for the interest in my You Tube channel. I like making a clip from my work. I'm working on a next one now.

From now on I will post my outcomes in a threat I started in 2014, here on Gimp Chat.
This is the link My Island

Issabella: I see you're using samj portable, 2.10.6 as well as I.
I was wondering if you have the Alpha to Logo filter working on your portable version along with the Bevel Reflect Logo?
I can't get that to work on mine.

Painted from scratch.
I'm not very good at this type of thing but,
I figure if I keep at it, might get better someday. :hehe

Peter, I also have the portable Gimp 2.10.6, is your picture RGB and does it have an alpha channel?
I think otherwise it won't work.

BTW, I can't achieve a painting outcome like yours :paint Even practicing endless...

Ella Louise:
My portable version has transparency and all my files are RGB.

Here's my latest picture. It's called "The Red Fox."

Here's a video tutorial on how I made this image just for you.
I suggest that you download it to your computer because of its size.

Peter, what I meant was, does your image has an alpha channel.
If you right click on it in the layers window you can see if it has one or not.
If not you can add one.
