(click for DA version, bigger view highly recommended)

Aftermath

"Aftermath" to what? Nobody's talking.

A study from my (pretty strange) comic project Where Red Apples Lie. We see the "Unknown girl" (seen in various snippets on DA) and another character.

This is a variation on the black+white+red theme which I use for this work, so this is intentionally 3 colours only. And yes, she has only one leg (I had the crutches in there too, but removed them since it felt too cluttered).

Feedback welcome as always!

Definitely feel pain when I see this Griatch. Evicting emotion from me takes a lot so kudos to you and your artistic prowess. :)

fantastic picture but also very sad

i love the black and white versus red, totally my thing !!
the pixelated glass is cool and the graffiti

the girl looks a bit like Battle Angel Alita (aka Gally/Gunnm) and the whole scene reminds me very much of one of my favorite manga: Blame!

awesome!

Very nice , the three colours really add to the emotion already created by the characters.

you have portrayed the emotion of the scene...I really do wish I knew the whole story to Where Red Apples Lie. After seeing bits and pieces, I want more.

Thanks for the comments!

@lylejk, hearty
Considering the "Unknown girl" is notoriously rather weak of expression, it's always interesting how much emotion people nevetheless subscribe to her. :)

@Esper
Yeah, you are right that with her hair being puffy like this, she does have a sort of Alita- look to her. :) I designed this character long before ever reading an Alita novel, but the coincidence is fun. I also looked at Blame! after your comment. A cool manga although I'd not have quite as much patience drawing huge looming structures as that guy (must be a very simple manga to translate though, certain chapters have almost no dialogue at all).

@AnMal
Thanks. The red is not intended to come from a window however, it's a giant commercial display (hence the pixellation), and the white curve is maybe part of a commercial logo of some type.

@2-ton
Yeah, time restraints makes it unfeasible for me to draw the whole thing with any sort of regularity so I refrain from doing so. It is easier for me to grab small snippets here and there in the story, it also helps to flesh out the character style too.
