"At least we have nice weather", said the Jester.

Getting back into doing some artwork, after a busy time. I guess this could also fit in the "No frowns in misery" series of mine.
As usual, it's inspired by various literary works of mine (if you've seen my gallery you will recognize the Jester from other images).
A lot of work on light and volume here. I also worked to apply more texture to surfaces.

Comments and feedback are welcome as usual.

The lights, shadows and structures of the walls are really excellent.
The square stones of the pavement "seem" to be out of perspective.
The figure is in general very well drawn.
The right foot has perfect shape, lights and shadows.
The left foot "seems" to need a better shadow definition.
The right hand on the pavement "seems" to need better lights/shadows definition.
A really great composition !

I like the dungeon, and the puppet is funny. Left foot looks too small/short compared to the right.

That's beautiful Griatch. Looks like early morning and she's just woken up. Is she in some kind of prison? I prefer to think that she took shelter overnight in a castle ruin and is soon going to walk out into the sun.

Thanks for the feedback! Let's address in sequence:
- The stones of the floor are not square, so I guess that could lure the eyes a little. Is there some particular part of the image where you think the perspective is off?
- I'll take another run over the left foot; I guess the heel could need some more shadows.
- Same with the hand, I'll look at improving its shadows a little :)
Glad the character/anatomy looks good otherwise. The composition of this was something I was experimenting with too, so great if it works out. Feedback like this is always appreciated. I'll reply here again once I update the image.

There is the matter of perspective and foreshortening - the left foot is further away. But I'll take a closer look at it to see if something needs to be done there, thanks!

Well, even if it was a prison, she doesn't appear too downtrodden over it, at least. Good that the mood of the thing does appear to come across. :)

In this area inside the red line, only a very special study could have created stones of a form which forces each of them to appear so straight-vertical, in contrast with the perspective that would have caused a "trapezoidal" look with the front side much larger than the back side.

I see what you mean. It's all actually done in perspective, with perspective lines and everything, it's jus that the stones are uneven and not square so the look of strange perspective is, in this case, a pure coincidence (see for example the stone floor to the far left and how unevenly it fits against the wall). But I admit that there is also not much gain in making the perspective so deceiving. :) It's easy enough to shift the stone's gaps to more follow the expected trajectory (haven't gotten around to adjust other suggestions on this image either yet). So I'll adjust that, thanks!

Thanks a lot, lylejk! I usually start out with a much brighter/less contrasty image but as I go I tend to want to make it 'pop' ever more and keep adding shadows ... ;)
