Still playing with the optimal Truchet pattern generation... So, the final technique is this: - fill two layers, one with each pattern (I create the patterns in a side image and copy to clipboard) - add layer mask to top one - fill with noise (plasma or HSV noise, each has its advantages) - Filter/blur/pixellize and give the size of the pattern - use threshold tool to obtain equal number of black/white squares, or a pattern mix you like (this is the fun part, watching the pattern evolve while you drag the threshold handle). But then there is a variant: - add layer mask - create text on layer mask - pixellize & treshold as above. Instant steganography. Can you spot the letter? Did I say subliminal messages in screen savers? No I didn't! Just plain squiggly lines, boss... and look, do you see anything else? |

I used the 4 patterns per the tutorial Ofnuts. I used GIMP's Posterize set to 4 to get the 4 selection patterns from the Santa target that I used (a clipart that I got and can't remember where). |
