An Image for you to comment on(I'm trying to get the right look for an old wrought iron railing) ![]() |

That's perfect as far as I can see ![]() The only thing I can think of is where the text meets the mesh might need a connected look. I'm not sure how you would do that, maybe smudge or rough up bits of the mesh lines where they meet the text if that makes any sense? |

Looks good, though I do agree with Odinbc about the text. |

Nawh, just lose the mesh altogether. I love the effect, looks great. Make it work on a selection and you have another winner. I've been playing with cast iron recently and but I'm still not satisfied with the look. |

I think if you take out those white things and use some dark bolts to attach the text to the fence would work. Not too many, but enough to see how it is fastened. I don't know if it can be done but some shadow just behind the text against the bar will make it look raised a bit. |

I like it, what did you use for a pattern overlay mine turned out more like pewter than wrought ![]() |

That looks pretty darn good alc59. Now you and Graechan have me going on my cast iron again but other than color, what really makes the difference between wrought iron, cast iron and pewter? Is it just a darker gray or is it the texture? ![]() All I did here was a color, noise and a bump map then added the bevel and curves to the extruded part (Drawable Multiplication). I too am curious how Graechan did it. |

Old wrought iron rusts, which is why it was always painted black. I'm not sure that's what you're trying to achieve here. Maybe you're aiming for nickel iron? Nickel doesn't rust but it does discolor to white or light gray. |

I meant what texture or pattern did you use to create the metal finish. |

Draconian I've just posted the script and for the iron effect I used solid noise then spread with a 9/1 ratio on a new layer set to highlight mode above the black text-layer then a little bit of bump mapping and some curves to taste
