Good job, omg :2thup
Whether the portraits are well recognisable, I don't know. I don't know the last two persons :bluesad :)

Ella - thank you :)

I asked GC member Teapot to nominate the next portrait target - well here she is Teapot and I hope it meets your expectations. I tried out a number of new techniques for aged skin in this one too.

Dame Margaret Rutherford, doyen of British theatre and films from the 1920s to the late 1960s. Probably most famous for her Mrs Marples character. Her early life was overshadowed by awful tragedies involving both of her parents.

Nice portrait OMG!
Each new one you've shown us seems to have it's own flair.
Well done! :clap

Wow, outstanding portrait OMG :wow Thank you for painting my choice, I love it!

She has a distinctive look that you have captured brilliantly :yes

I'm impressed with her skin tones too, you have conveyed her age really well.

How did you find doing a subject you didn't choose?

Ella - thank you for your comments.

Teapot - thank you for your comments and also for nominating Dame Margaret, for whom my research threw up so much interesting literature about this phenomenal lady and her life.

As for doing a subject not of my choice, initially difficult both searching for a reference image and then dealing with aged skin. But this portrait painting is very much a continual learning exercise for me and I was able to try some new things on the way through. I'm so glad you like it.

We have strict 'lock down" restrictions here in Sydney for at least another two weeks, so I will have plenty of time for Gimping, even though the Olympics are just about to commence and we have saturation TV coverage.

So given that the nominated subject outcome from Teapot seems to have met with satisfaction, I was thinking that I should extend the offer to nominate target portrait subjects to all GC members. So if you would like to set me a challenge ( ) and extend my learning experience, please PM me with the name.

Here is my latest portrait; hope he is recognisable but I will use the 'spoiler' method again to contain details.

Roger Federer, one of the all time great tennis players.

Teapot - thank you; since nobody else has taken up my offer of nominating the next portrait subject, perhaps you can give me another challenge :)

Here is another portrait nomination by Teapot, who is making each new subject tougher for me than the previous :) Still that helps me learn more new/better techniques.

This person is no longer with us and is shown below out of character, but I'm sure his long running TV shows are still airing in many places.

My attempt at Peter Falk, better known as Lieutenant Columbo in a series that ran for around 35 years.

What about adding canvas to your portraits?
