Issabella - my last few posts (after my Pat625 tut!) have represented paisley experiments with the GnuTux '3d extrude' and Graechan 'Extrude from Path' scripts. For the latter I needed to learn a lot more about GIMP brushes, when attempting to make those brushes visible and not just part of a 'pretty pattern'.

Anyway here is the best I could come up with, red roses, one of Molly's fish and some rope in a paisley wreath ...

Image

... and one which represents the way I feel at this moment, the world through the eye of a paisley addict ...

Thank you OMG for your explanation to my request. I want to learn a bit more about paths to try to create something good as you normally do. :) :hi5

Very nice work OMG :)
Issabella, your last one looks like autumn paisley leaves. :)
I like them all

issabella: i really like your paisleys! i thought just like sallyanne, that they look like autumn leaves :).
oldmangrumpy: hehe, through the eye of a paisley addict - that's so good! the one with lots of brushes too is very good, its an unlikely combination of patterns and brushes and it still looks good as a whole - so well done! are you still experimenting with graechan's script? i haven't found a way to make it work with the track direction dynamics, but maybe you have?

This is my first attempt at doing anything with paths, so if I have any success, it is because of the help of OMG. I had trouble with the paths at first, so I borrowed someone's background. I will need to practice more.

Anmal - thank you, but 'track direction dynamics' ... what are they? I'm still on page 1 with brushes; can handle size and spacing so far but 'track direction dynamics' ... wow! Obviously I need to play more with both brushes and Graechan's script.

Pat625 - terrific result for your first path based paisley post and I'm sure there will be a lot more!

I tried to make some new patterns by combining some of Anmal's paisley gems, but it failed so I turned it into glassware ...

pat625: beautiful result! i like the composition, the paisleys work well against that carved wood background. making your own paths takes a bit of getting used to, but the more you use the paths tool, the better you'll like it - at least that's what happened to me :).

oldmangrumpy: i agree with erisian, that's great! it looks old. even older than erisian himself, which is not to say a little...
i didn't mean to talk above your head with the brush dynamics  . it's easy to forget you're still rather new to this. here are some pics for you:
Image the brush dynamics option, which you might have played with before

Anmal - thank you for the brush lesson; that takes me one step further forward.

Tried a different approach today and took just one simple paisley path, played with it and turned it into a pattern using Graechan's alpha shine script: admittedly it's a bit of a garish pattern, but I also used it to make some pastel versions too ...

Image

... then ran Dinasset's globe view script against it ...

How can you ever tire of GIMP? :gimp

oldmangrumpy: garish or not depends on what you'll use it for :). i quite like it, reminds me of the cathedral windows i've seen this summer - and i really like the patterned sphere on the zoom blurred background!

Anmal - tried out the brush direction tracking dynamics today; excellent results so thank you. You also told me to keep posting so I hope you do not regret that advice ;)

Anyway, because I was so impressed by Erisian's take on fantasy, through both art and music, I thought I would have a try too. So here we are with Medusa (the snake queen) now resident in Paisley Space, flying through that space in her neutron powerd, fast spinning paisley space probe, accompanied by her paisley 'space bats' (little fighter space ships!).

Oh well, it keeps be busy and out of mischief ...

Anmal - looks like its just me then.

I bought a new paisley pet this week and she has already had a litter ...

If we're still into fantasy, I overheard some youngsters talking about the Shardnado movies. (Must have been a new one out recently.) Anyway, since I am now seeing paisleys in the clouds, this was not too far a stretch of the imagination for me! Again, thrown together quickly, not a work of art!

It still seems very quiet on the paisley front - so inspired by PAT625 and Trandoductin I tried my first 'apng animation'.

files/3878_testxx.apng

But obviously i have done something wrong in uploading the file as it appears as a line of text only ... but then if you click the text the animation starts ...

Some help please !!

As you know, the troubles with the apng animation still persists. I decided I needed to take a break from it for awhile. I was missing Paisleys!! Hope this is a suitable offering.

Pat625 - excellent paisley Pat and I love those sparkles; I also understand your 'animation' frustration!
