Two different approaches on the two pictures.
The first - I have tried to bring out detail - particularly in the darker parts.

The second - something completely eccentric!

PS. The breakfast cake looks delicious. Can I come and eat at your house?

Did not use a seamless texture this time. Used Fill with Patter Seamless to create a bigger swatch and then copied a circular selection of the swatch to feed though Mathmap's Circle line and then healed transparancy. :)

Slight changes - emphasised the reflection in the pavement and adjustments to brightness and contrast.

A play with my equal saturation mask plug-in. I used it to increase saturation mainly in the areas where it was low and for the flowers.

I love your results. All of them have its nice interpretation and are beauty. :clap :clap :clap
Lyle, your cake pattern is nice. I save it. Also your perspectives ones. You are a master in it. :)
Dinasset, I like always your interpretations, I like specially the Ink Wash Burn applied. it is very nice.
David, you gave it your personal touch and with more flowers is perfect!. It seems to be real. well done!

I took these photos in the cave where the antique queens and her help ladies had baths because of the heat outside.

In this picture I like the way that the dark foreground forms a frame.

Here I have cropped the photo to make it symmetrical. Increased saturation in the low-saturation areas and a 10% reduction in medium parts.

Issa, IMG_3909 doesn't look to be an "original" photo

Though I have many methods for creating mosaics, I had an epiphany allowing me to do this type of mosaic all in G'MIC. Used anisotrophic smoothing, stencil, and superpixel to create the blocks (transparent color edges) and then used that result to create the block mask which I fed into the Blend>Shape Average for the colorized blocks. Then I applied Local Orientation (set to grain merge on duplicate result) to raise the blocks a bit. that got me to 99% there; some special sauce for the glistening (favorite PS plugin that's no longer free; lol) and voila. I suppose I should have healed the main blocks, but am a lazy filter guy. lol

Had to save and extreme compression to keep it under 5M. :)

Diego, 3909 image was reduced in size. it was enormous. I scaled it in gimp.
I like your transformation and I will try to do it.
Lyle, It is impossible for me to follow your steps. Thank you for sharing your method as the result is wonderful. You are patient to do it. Thanks.
