Hello AnMal,

Thank you! Yes, my paisley is made up from a fractal brush (hawksmont.abr-001), which at the time, was the closest thing I had to a paintbrush paisley. I used glass bubble texture for the background :)

pat625: ooooh, i love your version of aladdin's lamp! if i found aladdin's lamp and rubbed it it would certainly look something like your picture :). stop saying you're not creative, though - its quite obvious you are creative, or you wouldn't compose nice looking images the way you do.

oldmangrumpy: your latest has a really nice volume to it - it's like advanced origami out of shiny paisley patterned paper or something.

liz-ard: i thought it looked rather fractally :). nice use of the brush!

My intentions were to make a path blend image for that thread. All of my creations looked like nonsense until I remembered a tried and true friend. . . .the Paisley!

Pat625 - that is a really beautiful image Pat; cannot go wrong with paisley ... and you were asking me to write tuts ... now its your turn :clap

And what's all this about you not being artistic? ;)

Anmal - thank you; it's all about your patterns.

pat625: very nice effect! it would be fun to play with this as a whole pattern, with lots of units like these spread out over a big surface. and it would be fun to play with different gradients too.

Very nice AnMal. I understand your joy. I just recently have had some success with the Path Blend script. I really had to play with it to see just how it works!

AnMal Would you mind telling me what brush or script you used for that rainbow pattern? My adopt-a-kids would like to have it.

(I am an adopt a dad while dad is away in military, so I get to be Pa again! (Thought I was done with all that....sheesh) ) :hehe

Anmal - its all about this crossover thread problem - you start creating something for one thread then it ends up somewhere else. Very nice rainbow paisleys.

I thought I would make some also using path blend ... but look what happened below :hehe some glass paisly ornaments. It looks like I'm stuck in a glass time warp right now.

Jazzon - I'm pretty sure Anmal is using a standard GIMP gradient in the path blend script.

grumpy one: :jumpclap lovely glass paisleys :)! i think crossovers are the most fun - mixing techniques and styles and just letting imagination loose on things.

jazzon: sounds like you're doing something meaningful there! i don't have any children, but plenty of godchildren and a nephew, with yet another nephew or niece on the way. they colour my world and i give them my full attention whenever i'm around them. as for how i did the rainbow paisleys oldmangrumpy got it right apart from the fact that the gradient is one of my own :).

OMG Love all three, but especially the 1st. And thanks for the info.

AnMal Thank you! I've never had kids of my own per-se, but three step, and unofficially fostered 12, so ya know I love em all! And I love the gradient. I'm no good at editing those, don't suppose I could prevail upon you to ship me the correct file? (I think gradients are stored in files, aren't they?)

OK GIMP people, it is now nearly 1 year since I started using GIMP and joined this forum, and it has been an experience that I cherish. Great creative software, fabulous script/plugin writers and just plain nice, friendly members to interact with. I have learned so much in this time and enjoyed every minute (hour?) of it.

So this is my last post for a while, because my wife is taking me away on a long holiday in France and no computers are allowed on this holiday. Here is my last post (for a while) of a glass paisley extravaganza ... Anmal some of the paisleys are made from a number of your patterns which I mixed together - love them ...

I'll be back ... about mid October. Take care every one.

Gorgeous!

You will be missed, but I hope you enjoy. And remember, don't overdue the computer time when you get back! Wives tend to object at being suddenly forgotten!

i looked through the paisleys in this thread and i think they're brilliant. but what strikes me is how much time we spend on the effects, on blinging our paisleys up and giving them volume and shine and colours and patterns. i thought i'd do something completely different this time, a very simple ink brushed paisley path. turned out not as simple as it seemed! i ended up trying lots of different paintbrush settings and combining different strokes. but the end result was this carefully texted poster:
