Not sure whether philosophy or BBQ season was the inspiration for this. Sausage font = Alpha Sausage from FreeFonts Download. Attachment: Chain_Links.jpg [ 449.27 KiB | Viewed 4603 times ] |

When we got married my wife's sister painted a picture for us, as a wedding gift, a copy of a book cover - Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton - which we both really liked. Back in those days their were lots of posters on folk's walls - but we could never find one of this particular picture - so this was our only option. After a few decades I thought I would try to find out more about the original painting and the artist, Marianne Podlashuc - it turns out that there are many examples of her work online, but I couldn't track this one down. (I also found out that it is most unwise to search for images of 'Three Boys' with safe search turned off.) The artist had quite an eventful early life - having lived through the German invasion of her homeland in the Netherlands during the Second World War. It seems that one of the recurring themes in her work revolved around depicting people who were oppressed in some way. She died in 2011 I took the original image and manipulated four more boys. It's the deep eyes that are so wonderful. Attachment: Seven_Boys.jpg [ 817.33 KiB | Viewed 4593 times ] |

I am certain that you were given a wonderful gift. Your painting shows emotion in the eyes and expression. Thought provoking. |

First image created in Gimp 2.10.0. A useful exercise in getting used to manipulating the selection tools. Liked the new Bump Map experience - although found the bump layer choice a bit clunky. Less impressed with the new drop shadow plugin - places the shadow into the current layer (no option for applying to new layer). Also this means that some layers have to be enlarged (Layer to Image Size) to fit the shadow into. Attachment: True_Colour_Flag.jpg [ 583.79 KiB | Viewed 4569 times ] |

I prefer the new bump map in 2.10.0 - a little iffy in the bump layer selection but more intuitive than its predecessor. Should really have used an image of a statue of Julius Caesar or Mark Antony to go with the words of Shakespeare but I like this bust of Caracalla. Been too busy with the nuts and bolts to consider any arty projects but at last a window to try out a custom font with an image that is courtesy of Wikipedia Commons and a frame from openclipart.com.
