Well that's not happening for me. I even deleted and downloaded and installed the script again. The color I chose with the ellipse was lavender. I closed and reopened gimp to make sure the script was for sure reset. I still got mush Original Image

Oregonian wrote: The color I chose with the ellipse was lavender. Sorry, O, but you don't "choose a color" with the selection. The purpose of the selection in this script is simply to provide a template for the size and shape of the bokeh to be produced. If you select a small circle, you'll get small circular bokeh; if you select a dainty star-shape, you'll get dainty star-shaped bokeh; and if you select a thumping great rectangle, you'll get thumping great rectangles! The actual bokeh effect is produced from the highlights in the image - wherever the luminosity of the image is above a certain threshold, the script will produce a bokeh shape centred on that highlight and with the color of that highlight. Your last image is probably correct. |

Thanks for your help everyone. Things are looking better on this end. I'll continue playing with it and hopefully come up with something nice. ![]() |

After trying Graechan's script I did not find my 'bokeh' results very attractive, but I did find the semi auto version with its paths/selection shape to be a great tool for decorating images!! So my ladybird now has two 'bokeh bug' friends, the grevillea flower now has textured 'bokeh tentacles' and little 'bokeh moths' are flying around it ![]() ![]() |

Oh dear, Graechan ... perhaps I did not make it clear above that I was just having a bit of fun ... yes the script is terrific for 'Bokehs', although my first attempts were somewhat puny. I was though just seeking to demonstrate the potential flexibility of the script using the paths tool and current selection outline/color as the bokeh component. |

Thanks OMG, but I was comparing it to Gmic's Bokeh. Loved your ladybug bokeh

Just to make it clear that I did play with the bokeh script for its intended purpose - Sydney NYE fireworks bokeh ... star shape selection in the auto version ... ![]() |

Lovely photo OMG, I used GnuTux's one. I don't have clear about controlling the number of Bokeh items showed on the pic. Can this be done? Why is there any Bokeh item on the tree? ![]()

@Issabella - I'm no coder (not these days anyway), but I'm sure that the auto version of the script makes it's own decisions about where and how many bokeh items are created. But if you use the 'free form semi auto' version of the script, you can draw a path which identifies the target location for each bokeh item ... for example in my flower image above, I drew a path connecting the ends of all the flower stamens to place bokeh circles on them and similarly for the moths. Hope this helps. |

Thank you OMG, I understand now how to share out the Bokeh items. ![]() ![]() I have to practise more times but it is a very good script, Graechan I like it very much. Thank you. ![]()
