Excellent Aris, You really do a good job of your blending.

Maybe you could blend or fade that right side where his had must have been at the edge of the page when you were painting it Kudo's

If I work with this in the future I'll pay attention to that. Thanks for pointing it out Mo. :)

Erisian, I've read through the entire thread a few times, and I can see great improvement in your forms, poses and facial characteristics. The fullness of the bodies and the expressiveness of the eyes have gotten better and better even just since August. Either this is because your are fleshing things out more than you intended in the beginning of this thread, or your are making excellent strides artistically. Beautiful work.

Are these digital paintings?

Thank you steven8. :) I have spent a lot of time learning to be loose and free with my painting and "doodling" like this helps a lot. I can see the improvements and they are not because I am trying to create finished work, they are just happening naturally. I'm glad it shows. These are all digital paintings created in Gimp or Krita (mostly Gimp I think). Thank you for your interest. :)

I am so far removed from doing any painting. It has been over a decade. I tried poking around in Krita, but it is all just squiggles. Do you use a stylus or the mouse? How the heck do you blend? Even the wiki page on blending modes in Krita is simply confusing. It doesn't seem so much like blending as it does layering with partial transparency...or am I just not understanding?

I use a stylus - I could never paint with a mouse, though Mokonafan is good at that. Ultimately you will find your own style and techniques but you might want to look at mine for now. This link will show you some basics of how I work, although I have moved on a little from there now.

I'll look out for some Youtube links for you. Watching other artists at work is a nice way to learn.

Here is somebody whose work I admire. He frequently says "keep your values simple" and that one instruction improved my painting overnight.

I got both PDF files. An excellent reference. Thank you. I don't get time during the week to practice. I work third shift so my schedule with my family doesn't allow. I will give it a good go this coming weekend.
