:hoh @Graechan...I looked through every one of the drop downs in GMIC.
That filter is no where to be seen under that name. I know I have or had it cuz I posted a few images I did here in this thread.
Now it either jumped out of my computer or it is under a different name. :hoh :hoh

Molly I thought I had gone through another stage of senility because I had used the filter before but now it's gone :gaah

Well, now we are both senile. The proof is in the pudding that we used this filter. I am still using the same OS Linux-Fedora-17, so nothing should have changed.

The only thing that changed is that we both may have updated our gmic as that was in 1.5.1.0 and I am now using 1.5.2.2

It said in that link I posted that it was moved to Black and white. Anyway, I just tried it again and I am not having as much luck with it that I had before.

Molly can you do a search for garagecoder.gmic in your linux if so open it in your text editor and you will find the new Threshold Etch at the top, below which you will find his testing filters and this is where you can copy in the original filter code I posted above

Not sure why the filter is vanishing for some people, it should definitely be under "Black & White" now (I'm not on linux but it should behave the same). It's great to see it being used so well, in all honesty I'm more or less a beginner with gimp itself and I'm curious to know how some of the blending has been done!

I use Linux Fedora, It is under black and white in mine but I liked the old filter better. I don't seem to be able to control this one, although I do see some pretty nice images other people did in this thread.

I've made a new etch style filter "Multi-Layer Etch" based on the old one but re-written so it works/looks quite different, I think it's easier to use as well. If you update G'MIC filters it should appear under testing->garagecoder (unless we still have these missing filter problems :gaah )
It can be slow but perhaps somebody can make good use of it (coding I can do, art... not so much!)

Original image here.

I did a total of 4 layers on this to keep processing time down. The color layer I set to darken only.

Cool filter, garagecoder! :bigthup
