Please, download the zip file, open the zip file by double-clicking on it and copy/paste the script to your GIMP scripts folder (ie...C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts). Refresh your scripts and you're ready to go. The script can be located under the Filters > Light and Shadow > Plastic Wrap All Layers...

Download plasticwrap.scm scrip from here

The lower number you use, the more plastic added. In my case I used 5. The effect won't be excellent, you will need to paint over the white segments as shown in my screenshort.

I hope this helps.

argh, I had the worst time trying to do this! first of all, I could not get the path to close and make a selection, clicking on the starting point, clicking with shift or control or command didn't work either. So I ended up using the lasso tool. So one segment looked ok, and I tried to then copy the layer and rotate 45 degrees. but my center point was not perfect and I could not get my segments perfectly spaced. I soldiered on, and got all the segments somewhat positioned and colored. I forgot I don't have all the scripts and plug-ins from my 2.6, so I didn't have plastic wrap. Grrrr. I gave up.
so my question is, is there an easy way to move all my scripts and plug ins over by group or must I do it one by one?

yay, I finally found my plastic wrap script and put it into 2.8. I did a quick mock up with this tutorial and it worked a charm...didn't post it because i didn't bother with segments, just one big orange center, lol.
