But i did it the hard way. :lol

I used folders on my desktop as corner references for a snapshot area.
Using FastStone capture i selected that area and created the splash screen then added the 3D with "The GrassyVine PhotoFont" and 3D-Extrude. Of course i had to fix mine a wee bit to match but it works. I was really surprised my area was that close when it opened on my desktop the first time.

Pretty cool.

Thanks for bringing this up, I almost lost hope of ever having a transparent Gimp splash. Even though it's faked, it sure gives the impression of being transparent. :bigthup

really neat idea using screenshot of the gimp loading screen area to calculate the center location for splash to line up the picture.did similar things for avatars on the web before. lol of course wouldn't work for me since I have changing backgrounds.
