Teapot - thank you. Here is how I achieved that 'spiky look'.
1. Create your text
2. Duplicate it and then apply Filters>Distorts>Shift and apply parameters of 10 pixels and horizontal direction
3. Then again apply Filters>Distorts>Shift and apply parameters of 10 pixels and vertical direction
4. Apply filters>Render>3D Extrusion with parameters of 10 or 15 pixels and 225 for Direction.
5. Place your original text layer on top of the stack and apply modes or other attention as desired.

OMG, I like your latest two effects, they really pop.

I realise you and racer-x have already done fur in this thread but I liked them so wanted to try it too.

I have tried it but I don't get to give the fur look to the front face of the text. Please any help?

Issabella - I think you are referring to my post showing how I achieved the 'spiky' text look and which Teapot has used subsequently, but I think without using step 5 in my original instructions and just retaining the 3D spiky look for all the text

Teapot also posted a 'furry' text image, referring to previous posts by me and racer-x, where I think it was probably Graechan's FUR script that was used. Hopefully Teapot can confirm this or help out further for you.
