Here is my portrait of one of my musical heroes from my youth, Hank Marvin, who formed and was lead guitar in The Shadows. They were a sometime backing band for Cliff Richard, but also had many chart successes of their own.

Checking up on Hank, who is now in his eighties, I found out that, like me, he had moved to Australia from England and has lived in Perth since 1986. For what its worth I came to Oz way back in 1968.

In the UK the coronation is on 6th May, given the last one was in 1953, how about King Charles?

@Teapot - thanks for the suggestion; I had hoped for more.

I will wait until KC has been crowned and then look at what 'vintage' of his life I will attempt - somewhere between Geelong Grammar and Westminster Abbey :hehe

My portrait of Australian ABC TV newsreader Karina Carvalho. Yes, it was the hair with which I was struggling :(

I like the way you have done the hair. What brush setting did you use to get the wave?

@ Erisian - most times with different hairstyles, I opt to create new brushes to give me the finish I desire. If you remember my tut on How I Created The Hair In My Sketch Portraits, to which you responded, I use those techniques to create brushes.

Firstly I create some paths, with slight variations, then stroke those paths with my 'stroker' brush (from that above tut), using variable brush sizes with Basic Dynamics or Fade to Fade. Then I try them out and use the ones that suit my purpose best. Here is a sample from those I created/played with in the above 'crazy hair' portrait.

I remember now. I'll have to find that thread.
