:jumpclap Wallace - another good one Wallace; you provide me with both inspiration and ideas.

Somewhat busy at the moment protesting against our local council but by the weekend I will try out some of those ideas.

Thanks Molly, Imagebut that would be one long tut for that design. One would also need to have more then a basic paths know-how.
I also through in a little of the old BRL for good measure. ;)

erisian: you never stop impressing me:). all that intricate patternwork , it's like looking at those chinese paper cuts my brother bought us. since i'm a bit of a pattern junkie i love anything as richly detailed as this and knowing that it's all done freehand on the tablet makes it even more impressive. at least to me, i'd never have that kind of patience!
wallace: :jumpclap you've outdone yourself on that one! i love all the bling and the shape is beautiful too, but what impresses me most is how you got that brl filter to eat out of your hand!

The results in this topic are all great, but you've outdone yourself with that last paisley, Wallace. It has a very Art Deco design and feel to it. Well done!

Thank you very much Tux.
I think the color pallet I chose really set it off well.

One way to learn about paths is to embellish a simple paisley.

pat25: nice job :)! i really like the colours and pattern on those paisleys. i think the edges on them could do with a touchup, perhaps, they look a bit jagged.
oldmangrumpy: so true. i've made celtic knotwork and paisleys in gimp and they both challenge my path tool skills!
i don't play chess (or rather, i do if someone really nags me, but i do it very badly so i tend to avoid it), but if i had a paisley chess set - now that would be different :)!

here's my latest one, using the paths tool and a whole bunch of g'mic filters:

Thought it was about time I did a paisley. It is all gimp done using paths and selections, brushes I have made and blending. I will have a go and G'MICing it soon. Not as imaginative as others but it is mine.

sallyanne: yaaay, you joined in :)! a very nice paisley - i like the general shape of it and it's so generously decorated too. the decorations look like embroidery, with sequins and beads thrown in.
