Really like your pup drawing, Artloader. Wish I had the discipline to paint; just way too lazy to do this. lol

Thanks Lyle :). I guess we like to do what we enjoy doing, I like painting and you like creating genius ways of using plugins and you're good at it!

@Lyle: Yep each to their own mate!

Here's a digital painting of a candle-lit shack. I did it to study for a project I am doing with an author friend. I wanted to gain confidence in painting candle-lit shacks. Any critiques would be welcome - thanks.

The painting is very nice.
IMHO lights and colours could be improved to give a more realistic effect of candle-lights.
Look at the image taken from Google

Many thanks Dinasset. Yes I see that I should have included more red tones to suggest candle light, thank you for the thoughtful feedback :).

I'm trying out a new process for painting the human figure:

To get her kicks she takes to the streets of her crime ridden kingdom and indulges in a bit of vigilantism. Armed with a chainsword of her own design she has taken down some heavy duty baddies already. What will she do next?”

Merry Christmas GimpChat!

Thanks Dinasset :).

What? You've never been wished a Merry Christmas by a chainsword wielding woman before?

Been a while.

I've been getting into using traditional acrylic paints and canvas board (7" x 5") - great fun :).

Here's a puppy dog I did a recently working from a photo reference (critiques welcome as always):

Nice work!

I haven't done any traditional :paint art in a very long time.
It's always good to go back to ones roots.

Thanks Wallace :).

I hadn't done it since school many, many years ago but I'm glad I started it up again though - real paint is so much fun :).

aww what a cute puppy. <3
I'm learning acrylics myself, only I'm using cheap craft paint because that's all I can "afford" and I can't even afford that. xD

I like the style you're going for, it's somewhat geometric but still not overly angled.

Thanks Mokonafan, I try to simplify the shapes I see - hence the geometric look.

Here's the next one - painted monochromatically in burnt umber:

Wow, Wow and more Wows! Your work is amazing and puts mine to shame!
And I agree that the Man Wearing Laurel definitely looks like Freddie!
Before I read it I immediately thought it was Freddie. Queen is still my favorite band ever!!

Definitely cool work. Can't criticise anything. Since I started using gimp I gave up pencil, pastel, paint. Would never have done anything as good as what you are doing.

@Pat625: Thanks Pat - bunnies are just the cutest pets aren't they? We used to have a house bunny who used to watch TV with us :).

@PhotoMaster: Thank you for the very kind words PhotoMaster :). I agree too on the likeness to Freddie Mercury I think it's the moustache :).

@Sallyanne: Thank you, you are too kind :).
