I attempted to reduce the haze by adding a new layer with a big increase of contrast and then used a layer mask with a gradient to reduce the effect on the foreground. It is not very satisfactory.

Here are two more tries. In the first of these I copied the red channel into a new layer in overlay mode. It reduces the haze, but the red roofs become paler.
For the second I have taken this image and increased the reds using Colours/Components. Better, but not ideal. I think that I should have reduced the blue content at the same time.

I have tried for a long time to find a method of reducing differences where there are mixed light sources and failed! Perhaps a slight reduction here.
