Appreciated the words; it's all about using layers to allow some of the canvas through but not all; gives dimensional to the result. What I do is use a gradient mask (like using the 3 bars sin gradient) run on original image (not painted one) and invert this result to use as a mask layer on the canvas and then grain merge the canvas on the painting. More secret sauce shared. lol
