Your subject matter is right on. We are in a real mess in Australia with droughts, floods and bush fires yet we are the worlds second largest coal exporter. They go to great lengths here not see the connection.

I read "Il mestiere di vivere" a long time ago.And in my library, I have the book of Dominique Fernandez "L'échec de Pavese".I think I'll read them again and with another look, no doubt. (50 years exactly my first reading.)
