I'm impresed that you seem impressed Rod. PixLab actually pointed us to the recursive transform and it's use with text. If you look back in this thread, (Page 45 starting post 448) you will probably see better ones. I'll find the page number and edit it into my post.

Cool guys. I find that lathing is a little difficult to master Rod, so dont use it so much. I see you have it down pat straight away.

Not really that difficult once you figure out the layer size you need. GMIC seems to enlarge the text quite a bit. So you have to create your original layers a bit bigger than your lathing object(text, or other shape). Then center your shape in the layer. If you want a pattern "Overlay" effect just create a top layer filled with the pattern of choice and make sure you have GMIC use active layer and above layer. Pretty simple really.

While playing with an effect like the one Wallace used in #753 - this one produced an interesting look (although not the same)...
