:hehe I understand how you feel. OMG is really good at this sort of thing and that last one was beautiful, but remember he's been doing this kind of thing for a long time. If you get some good brushes to play with, and play a lot with G'Mic filters, you will soon start finding your feet. You have a good imagination and you use colour very well. Just keep building on what you have learned. :paint ;)

thank you for encouraging me, I try every day but as it's frustrating, I try other things hoping that one day I will click. ;)

I've created a tutorial on how to make temporary brushes. I thought it might be useful in this topic.

Nice one Pat.

OMG, Beautiful gold work, are you sure you haven't got a stash of ancient treasure in your garden that you are digging up?

Nice tutorial Erisian.

I'm having computer upgrade problems so thought I'd do some knitting in the meantime :sneak

teapot - that is really beautiful. How did you do it?

I played with a new idea - giving a 3d effect to a 2d mandala.

All the recent ones are really nice. I liked the gold one OMG so did one with a couple brushes, BR and 3D extrusion. No where near as good but I had a go.

Thanks Erisian, I drew it with the MyPaint chalk brush and the mandala starting with 100 points. Your 3D is very effective :wow

level_0, OMG, and sallyanne, really lovely mandalas :paint I'd wondered how that 3D effect was done so good to know it's called 3D extrusion but what is BR?

@ teapot, BR is "Bevel Reflect"

sallyanne - that last one of yours is a real beauty. It would be nice with a mirror in the middle.

Sallyanne - neat effect and interesting idea from Erisian; might try it out.

This Gimp symmetry facility is addictive and lends itself to experimentation.
