Hi guys,

This is literally my very first hour on GIMP in which I made this. I noticed everyone else does text, is that what GIMP is for? I used it as an alternative to PS.
Anyway here's my very first GIMP, combining a landscape image with a character. I found it rather difficult to sort the grass out underneath the horse's legs as well as to get the lighting right on the horse himself. Where the horse is there used to be a couple standing there which I had to remove. Excuse the Low Resolution, it was a bad picture to use but I liked it. Feedback would be appreciated, again this is my very first try ever! :D

Here's the original:

Thanks, Pirooz.

Fontskiy welcome to Gimp Chat and, no, GIMP is not just for text but some of us (including yours truly) learn a lot from working on text tutorials.

About your first hour with Gimp and your result, great job! :clap

Welcome to Gimp Chat Fontskiy, you did a marvelous job in only a short amount of time. Gimp can be used for many, many things. If you look through Gimp Art you will see and the Photo Restoration board also. We will be looking out for more of your wonderful artwork.

Gimp is a powerful program and is a free alternative to PS and even more. Even those who paint their pictures in another program like 'MyPaint' usually bring it to Gimp for the final touches. If you are a sketcher or like to draw by hand before you paint the best [I have heard - I don't have one], format to draw in is a tablet - like Wacom. Then you can turn it around as you please. Gimp can be loaded onto one of these. Maybe someone who has one will be able to better describe.
