I saw what Lyle had done with his Phoenix, so I had to give it a try. I used Scheme II as the emap for this image.

Thanks Wallace for the link. Click the link below for it's Flickr (and while there, you can click the uber hirez result too). I vector resized the template in GIMP (easy to do for 2-color templates). :)

Pretty smooth, Lyle. :cool

Thanks Tux; converting to vector before resizing is the secret. :)

Yeah. I'd imagine that converting to a vector would smooth up the edges. Unfortunately, the original was a smallish .jpg, rather than a large png on a transparent background.

I did this with a smooth, solid color map. No vector convert.

Nice result Tux; actually, for the conversion, it came out pretty clean. I first selected white, then inverted selection and then went selection to path to create the vector. I then cleared the image, created a transparent layer, resized the image (resizing a blank screen is easy; lol), and then did path to selection and filled with black. Very clean uprez. :)

Attaching the svg vector (resized). Only thing I did before the resize this time which I did not do in my original is cleaned up the eye before the resize. :)

I did the same thing this time to get a larger and cleaner image.

I had to make a nicer one though, or what I feel is a much better image.
