Quickie for a challenge at DeviantDeadlines with the theme "Crystal". MyPaint + GIMP, some hours. No references used (except my own hands here and there).

UPDATE: Updated the crystal ball to be more ball-like. :)

I like that reflection in what looks to me to be the bottom of a metal bowl. The bowl is really cool. I love the way you painted it.

Great hands.

Definitely a ball because of the reflections of the sleeves, and the flares across the "thing" :)

Something that disturbs me in this picture is that I can't figure out the perspective. The background doesn't give any information on that, so it could be an horizontal look or a vertical look (the latter maybe explaining the "bowl" interpretation).

I have a glass ball that is similar in proportion to my hands as the one in the image. I placed my hands on it as closely as I could to the hands in the image. It was most uncomfortable.

The reason I see it as a bowl is the light rim around it, plus it looks like the "rim" is resting on the middle and 4th fingers of the right hand and the right thumb is resting at the edge of the rim.

The index finger on the left hand appears to be resting on the rim of it while the ends of the other fingers are curled within the bowl.

I got a bowl to check that out also. Holding it in the same positions as the hands in the image was much more comfortable than holding the glass ball.

Perspectively speaking, if it were a ball, the ball should appear closer to the viewer due to the front to back thickness that would be resting on the background.

An extra note here: I see the bowl with the outside bottom toward the viewer.

I see it as a sort of plate. Like a round shield, but smaller, inverted.

I have a stainless steel bowl that is about 1.5" deep that if I could get a photo of it without the flash ruining the image I would. I'd take a picture of the outside bottom toward the camera.

Turn off the flash or cover it with a white napkin, cloth, etc.

Thanks for the feedback, Oregonian and others!

I have updated the image. Hopefully it should look more ball-like and less bowl-like now. Please take a look.

I do not know what it looked like before but it looks like hands on a table holding a ball and the person holding it is looking into it.
I could tell it was a table by the shadow from the hands. That and well it looks like the grain of a table to me, and not a wall.So i knew the perspective was looking down on or in this case "in" the ball.

Very nice Griatch, this is a perfect example of your talent in all it's glory.
The color, lighting, perspective, and even the mood are superb. It makes me so happy to see an individual blessed with your wonderful gift. Don't ever stop creating your works and sharing them here with us please. They are so inspiring. :)
