Hi all,
Thought I'd share a few of the things I've done in chronological order so you can see how things have evolved, as I've learned new things about GIMP (I learn something new with every picture!)

I started a couple of years ago now, illustrating "tics" as uttered by Jess Thom (a.k.a Tourettes Hero - http://www.touretteshero.com/) She uses her site as a vehicle to raise awareness of tourettes, and prove it's not all about swearing (though a lot of it is!)

The first couple I did were first drawn in pencil, then "inked" in biro, then scanned and coloured in GIMP:
This one was to illustrate "Who loves sticky buns? Romans"

Then came "Samuel Pepys: Lawn Muncher..

Image

Then it was "Plato's Earthenware Ceramics"..

Image

There are a few more on the site (along with a lot of others by some brilliantly talented people)

Then this year I decided to start re-drawing/finishing some of my drawings from a few years back.
The first one I completed was this one..

Then I decided to design a birthday card for my mate (and birding companion)..

Then came the "Dragon Capo" that I've posted already and now I'm working on the zombie pic..

Hope this serves as inspiration to someone. Any questions about techniques I've used please ask away!!

Cheers

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

I was reading Touretteshero only a few days ago and apparently, only 10% of Tourettes sufferers swear. It's amazing how our media choose to focus only on certain things. You've done some great work there. Do you prefer doing cartoons or fantasy art?

Good question! Hard to say really? Cartoons are easier to complete - or at least they were before my urge to add realism took over.
I've been drawing both for most of my life (I also paint birds in watercolour - but the urge to add realism is still there so I can't produce the "loose" style I really admire)

Wow, I just love those two guys, they are awesome. You put great detail in the clothes and the denim jeans. Very good

 Now I'm embarrassed

The style has developed over the years, I have reams and reams of different cartoon faces (all with those flat black eyes), hands etc.
I never seem to actually finish much though, which is why these few are precious! :hehe

Cheers
