Thanks Mark. Way too lazy to make a formal tutorial, but I created this PDF with my updated flow to create these. Still, it requires more nuance then rote steps. I believe it could be automated in G'MIC, but doubt there's a demand for doing so. lol

:)

Result from tutorial:

Sweet. It's going on my list to try when things quiet down a bit. My GIMP install is a bit of a mess right now because I tried the organization script and things went funky. Going to try a fresh install and add things back more slowly, but haven't had a chance.

BTW, it's Margaret. Even I've been known to mistype it Mark because of MarFisk :).

No problem :). And if you'd gone with MarFisk, I wouldn't have said anything. I just find it funny that _I_ make the same typo with my name sometimes :).

A couple of helpful bits of info, if you are trying to follow the .pdf file instructions:

1/ On my system, GMIC 1.6.1.0 64bit the "G’MIC’s Bilateral filter" is called "Smooth [bilateral]" and it is under the "repair" section.

2/After that filter, it says to merge down. There is an intermediate step missing of setting the top layer to grain merge to obtain the desired result.

Yes; realized that I made a whoops a few days later bilbo. lolol

I created a customer preset since I use it so much. Also, sorry about the missed step. Only human folks (not to mention lazy and despise doing tuts. One day, I'm going to try the video thingy maybe. lol). :)

Thanks. Bilbo.

And Lyle,

I always miss steps when I write out directions too. Too used to the steps :).

Man; I need to break this binge now myself Matera. lol

Anyway; more experimentation. This time, I used Mehdi's Local Equalization filter (free and works great in GIMP w/ PSPI) before running Rodilius. I then desat the result before completing the flow as outlined in the PDF. Regardless of how I do these, there's no doubt in my book that applying the flow to shells do indeed give you cool results. :)

I compiled it for Linux_x64, if anyone is interested (Menu: Filters/Colors/Adaptive Contrast).

Thanks Tux

The ACE filter for Linux 64 doesn’t have an extension. Where does it go?
