Something I made with GIMP for my blog post this morning .

I used layer masks, the artistic->cartoon script, gradients, and some other techniques I've learned from the tutorials I've done here to combine a picture of a sliced lemon with a vector image of a glass (had a lemon outline and straw to begin with).

I like it Margaret; especially the gradient transitions.

Hi MarFisk, I think I get part of it. You don't want to make the image too appealing because it would go against your message. Does the dark black glass symbolize things not going well with your life? anyway well done

You give me much too much credit. I'm a talented hack but rarely attempt any true message in my art. I leave that for my writing.

In this case, I needed an image to go with this blog post: http://margaretmcgaffeyfisk.com/finding-appreciation-in-the-midst-of-disaster/. The gist of it is I did something stupid and deleted a category on my blog by accident, but in recovering the category, discovered some older posts that still resonate with me.

Oh, don't be sorry . I found your analysis fascinating, and it turned out to even have some truth within it. I've always been of the mind that while you might not have seen it when you wrote/created the work doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't subconscious.

All I was saying was it wasn't a conscious attempt to instill meaning.
