Thought I'd share some of my recent art before doing future artwork with Gimp. I've used Gimp for art before, and I've got a whole folder of Gimp artwork, but they are on a broken computer, and it will be too much of a pain retrieving the files right now.
None of these where created with Gimp, but I always do post-processing with Gimp on all my art. These are also all resized, and nowhere near the original size.
These where done with Mypaint. A year and a half ago I settled with a portable Linux OS of choice, it was one application short of perfection, and that application happened to be my primary digital painting application of choice - Mypaint. So I had to resort to a very crude workaround using Wine, which allows some Windows software to run under Linux. The major downside of using Mypaint under Wine was that pressure sensitivity did not work, so I had to work under those constraints. That's why I don't consider these as good as they could have been:
Luckily, as of last week, I finally managed to install Mypaint natively on my OS, thanks to someone making a package for it.
This was done with an painting application called Azpainter. However, I personally find the brush system a bit too laggy when using custom brushes. This is notable for using the finger paint G'MiC filter with post-processing:
I was experimenting with the making purely digital art look traditional, and that filter gave off the best effect.
Last but not least my current WIP. I've been working on this on and off since last October. This is being made with the free version of Artrage:
