Well, mini-roses that is. lol

Can't let Griatch have all the fun. ;)

Created this texture for starters: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Mini-roses-530474496

I then used it for the result. :)

Now you know the difference between most men and most women 2-ton. Men are, for the most part, literal while women tend to be subjective, allegorical, and innuendo. lol

Please ladies, don't hurt me now. lol

I thought maybe the roses would fade into sky color as they're further away.
I just copied the sky flipped it vertically and feather cut (feather 800) away multiple times until it looks somewhat convincing.

How did you turn the square image of flowers into a large field of it? I want to do something similar but with marios and luigi maybe :D

so i need to know how to make an image tilable, then how to make it into a huge field so that smaller further away any good links?

I am again sorry Sallyanne (and because I'm a guy, I actually mean it). ;)

@Trandoductin
I think Lyle has already dropped us a hint in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12407

Circle-to-Line is a Mathmap preset (originally known as moon2panorama)
See https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searc ... 9ekYou--gJ

Do a GimpChat search and/or Google "Gimp Mathmap circle line"

Yes; Jontait2 is right. Just wish you can get a deeper perspective instead of the hit/miss stitching required to create the perspective. Something I'm still working on by the way, but I'm not a programmer so have to depend on the fantastic coders that have shared their cool code. I do get ideas occasionally and am greatful for those that entertained my ideas into code over the years.

Again, the reason I like this technique is because it eliminates the left side/right side distortion that other perspective techniques introduce. :)

Okay, well if you give us a reasonably detailed example of your C-L workflow, perhaps there is something that can be done to make it more generalized and easier to use.

lol

If it wasn't so convoluted, I would jontait2. I can only give you the first pass then you can appreciate why it's frustrating.

Start with a texture. Best to use the Fill with seamless texture python plugin since it helps randomize the fill better then straight texture fill. Yes, this plugin's slow but not only does the target texture not have to be seamless, but again, the plugin randomizes the texture which helps with the perspective result. Now, start with a huge layer (3000x3000). Fill with the texture then create a circular selection of it.

Now run the Mathmap preset:

Here's the result thus far; note that the horizon is no where near small enough. The process is to horizontally duplicate (because span is 360, the image is horizontally tileable) and resize to the image size and blend in, but this process is tedious. Oh well. :)

I think I have a solution that will address the seams. What I did was do the fill seamless pattern and then made that result seamless. I then dupped and small tiled and ran the Mathmap preset on both layers. Now, though, there is a common seam (but you still have to find it). This, indeed, might work out. Not showing; just have to trust me. lol

OK; here's the result (without sky of course). Pretty stoked now; very easy but, as I eluded to for this technique, it won't work for all textures. :)

Okay, thanks Lyle. I'll have to have a good think about that. Probably a lot of experimentation too.

Hopefully the process can be automated jontait, but I'm not going to hold my breath. lol

At least the stitching issue has been resolved; the result here is the type of texture that doesn't work for this technique since you can see the circular patterns, but, at least I can now legitimately seam them together now with little effort. :)

So i found out that MathMap only works for me on GIMP 2.6 so I installed Gimp 2.6
But I don't know which MathMap to use to get the field/perspective going.
Which formula do I enter? or which sub-menu should i go into to get the field/perspective going on an image?

Not sure why Tran; I am running the latest GIMP and Mathmap's working fine for me. Anyway, scroll down the link below for moon2panorama and copy paste the code into Mathmap (I actually saved the preset afterwards; you can, of course, too). :)

Here's an example when this technique doesn't really give real results.

ref: http://www.fontplay.com/freephotos/fift ... 606-17.jpg

I first created a seamless texture.

Untitled.jpg

I then went through the process and below's the result (after some cleanup of the aliasing). Now you know why using regular patterns such as this is not ideal like this field of flowers. :)
