Never gets old to me. Though I had a lot of help from Flame Painter, if it wasn't for GIMP/G'MIC, this one couldn't be created. :)

Only outlining what I used. I used a custom setting that I actually figured out how to share at Flame Painter's site; it's called Broad Sweep (notice the large L; lol). I create a wiggly looking whatever and then open it in GIMP where I use the Copy/Rotate Scriptfu and then I use some G'MIC presets (Local Orientation and Anisotropic Smoothing presets) and Graechan's Plastic or Glass Script-fu. Thanks for the comments. Gotta take the spaghetti out of the pot and cook some red gravy now. :)

edit:

Forgot to add, for this particular scupture, that I ran Mathmap Simple Droste preset to fill in the center. :)

lyle: oooooh, that's beautiful!!! you're a wizard with filters, you really are. and hey, you got out of that perspective bog too :hehe
if you make any more chihuly-influenced flowers and things, would you consider sharing some of them as brushes for less filter-skilled gimpers without access to flame painter and mathmap? *puppy dog eyes, batting eyelashes and grovelling*

Not sure these would make good brushes AnMal, but easy enough to create these with Flame Painter. Shared this one as a response from an parallel thread that I shared the above render. :)

Assume you understand that the PNG files at the repository are the presets; not sure how Peter (Flame Painter) embeds the brush information in the PNG file, but all you have to do is add it to the repository and it will show up as a brush. Anyway, all you have to do then is paint with it. As for making the output look like glass, that takes more GIMPy enhancements (that includes G'MIC). :)

Well I use the free Flame Painter on line only so I cannot use the brushes...but I have to buy it in short!
